Star Tattoos - The Star of Tattoo Designs

Thinking about having yourself tattooed? We may have some ideas to offer you. Today there are plenty of star design tattoos around. It's very simple to find your desired design and a tattooist you will trust with your body. A good idea is a tattoo from the star tattoo designs. Star tattoos are very popular among sailors, soldiers, gay and lesbian communities, celebrities and people from almost all walks of life.

The star design tattoos probably started when sailors, centuries ago, used to tattoo themselves with a star tattoo, called the Nautical Star. Nautical means naval, and is used in reference to sailing. It is believed that these sailors used to tattoo a star symbolizing the Northern Star (the Nautical Star) to remind them of their way back home. A star is also used on maps to point the north. Sailors are known for being very superstitious - there are lots of tales about sailors not finding the Northern Star and getting lost at sea. It also reflects on ones personal life - finding the right path in life is similar to finding the Northern Star at sea.

Today there are several groups that use star designs as symbols. These groups have embraced the star design tattoos and each has a unique meaning and symbolism.

The sailors and soldiers have embraced the star design tattoos for almost the same reasons - both came from the need to navigate using the stars, both have also had a concessive use of maps.

The gay and lesbian communities also embraced the star design tattoos but they had different reasons for doing that. The first lesbian women that have worn a star design date back to the 1950's when several lesbian women tattooed a small blue five pointed star on their wrists, so they can hide it during the day with a watch.

Most Celebrities as well as punks who wear a star design tattoo do so to represent their unique path in life. These people are known of their extreme life style and the Nautical Star may help them find their own way in life.
So when considering a new tattoo, consider this: a star design tattoo is very popular design, it is very simple to tattoo, it can fit almost anywhere on the body, both men and woman can wear these tattoos and last but not least, the star designs are cheaper than most other tattoos.

I'm back from Roc City. It was a total blast!. It's always great to see old friends and make new ones. I had the chance to make cool tattoos and I even got a few of my own. JR Tubbs and Krooked Ken were kind enough to stick me a few times.

I'm also really proud to say I had the chance to sit down for an interview for the online magazine Swallows and Daggers. I really like the site and visit it often so I was really stoked to have the opportunity. It was put together well by my friend Shane Cashman and if you have a chance, give it a read.

The picture above is of me and Krooked Ken.
